Moderator New Director Sought For “Jurassic World“ Film.
Back To Blogs List

Universal is still searching for a director for the next installment of "Jurassic World." Negotiations with David Leitch (48, "Bullet Train") were unsuccessful, as reported by "Deadline" and "Variety." The studio and the director apparently had different visions for the film and mutually decided not to collaborate.

Release Date for Film Already Announced
The franchise's Instagram account recently shared the iconic T-Rex logo along with a date: July 2, 2025. This officially announced a release date for the still-unnamed "Jurassic World" film. In January, the US industry magazine "The Hollywood Reporter" had already reported that some of the original creators of the new film would be returning.

David Koepp (60), who wrote the screenplays for the original film "Jurassic Park" (1993) and its sequel "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" (1997) based on the books by Michael Crichton (1942-2008), will reportedly write the script for the upcoming adventure. Steven Spielberg (77), who directed the first two films, is set to return as an executive producer for the project. Details about the cast are not yet known, but according to "Deadline," the new work is expected to offer a fresh perspective on the Jurassic era, potentially making it difficult for original stars like Sam Neill (76), Laura Dern (56), or Jeff Goldblum (71), as well as newer additions like Chris Pratt (44) and Bryce Dallas Howard (42), to return.

After three "Jurassic Park" films (1993, 1997, 2001), a new trilogy began with "Jurassic World" in 2015, continuing with "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" (2018) and "Jurassic World: A New Era" (2022).
