Biography

HERB STROBINO's interest in art began during his grade school years doing amateur sketching of comic strip characters and pencil portraits of family, family pets and friends. During his high school years he doubled up his art courses which was helpful in learning he application of most mediums. Many of his high school pieces qualified for exhibiting in local and state competition resulting in occasional blue ribbon awards.
After high school and then serving 2 years in the military, in World War II, he began his art career painting reproductions for silk screening which later directed him to doing textile print designing for men's neckwear. In the years following he continued his designing supplying the dress silks market and later diversified into designing for other phases of textile as well as wall coverings and laminated table tops.
Moving to Carrollton, Georgia in 1957, at the age of 30, Herb was employed as Superintendent of Engraving and Art Director of a leading textile print firm in Carrollton but also continued his design interests in the drapery,upholstery and bed spread markets oln a free lance basis. His textiles can be seen both national and international but nationally they can be seen in famous vacation resorts and hotels such as Yellowstone National Park and Lodges, Disney Cruise Liners, Las Vegas Luxor Hotel, Branson Box Car Willie Motel and other leading hotel chains such as Marriott, Hilton, Renaissance and Sheraton. After his 43 year employment and retirement in 2000 he devotes his time primarily to his visual arts working most mediums but prefers using water colors and mixed media and excels in the use application of shading and textured techniques, often implementing the use of air brush.
Herb is a native of Little Falls, N.J., USA, there receiving his education and re-located to Carrollton, Georgia where he currently lives with his wife June. they have 5 children, 15 grand children and 17 great grand children. They are members of First Christian church in Carrollton where Herb has served as both Deacon and Elder.
