Here is the question that womens regularly ask: "I am looking for a foundation, which unifies and balances my complexion, but which does not mask!" What is a foundation? How do you find the right product for you? Here is the information and tips we can give you on this subject.

Foundation & natural cosmetics

A foundation is a makeup product, which colors the face and gives a visual impression of a smoother complexion. Unlike conventional products, natural cosmetics do not allow silicones or synthetic film-forming agents in their foundations. To get a pleasant texture, vegetable oils will be used since they are slightly similar to silicones in terms of sensation on the skin. Mineral powders are also very popular in natural cosmetics since they only contain pure ingredients and work naturally.

Texture, coverage, and finish of foundations

Foundations are available in several textures: the classic ones in cream form, for example, which color the complexion and provide skincare. The liquid foundations have a somewhat fluid texture, very light on the skin. Practical on the go, compact foundations have a more solid surface but are very soft. The complex mineral land is generally in the form of loose powder: with various shades, these powders offer a very natural result on the skin. BB Creams and CC Creams have also appeared in recent years. : these are tinted day creams with multiple actions, such as a sun protection factor or particular active substances.

Most natural foundations provide light to medium coverage, but sometimes more. Mineral powders are applied in thin superimposed layers: the more layers there are, the more opaque the foundation. The term "finish" determines whether the foundation is rather mattifying (for combination and oily skin) or, on the contrary, illuminating (for dry and mature skin). To accentuate this effect, you can also apply a mattifying or illuminating finishing powder over the foundation.

Find the right shade.

A foundation should neither be too dark nor too light on the face. It is best to test by applying a little product to the contours of the jaw to see if there is a big difference.

With a bit of practice and knowledge of the different types of skin tones, you can find the proper foundation even through an online store. The foundations are divided into several categories, depending on the level of lightness of the skin: the "Fair" is intended for very fair skin, which barely tans. Those with the designation  "Light" concern fair skin, which takes a little color in the sun. The "Medium" category corresponds to medium complexions, therefore a slightly tanned skin, typical of Central Europe. "Tan" brings together foundations intended for well-tanned skin, the standard of Southern Europe. And for dark skin, "Dark."

Tip: Most women have lighter skin in winter than in summer. If you have two different shades of foundation, mix and match to achieve a color that works best for your skin, depending on the time of year.

To quickly select the proper foundation, you must also pay attention to its " nuances, "described in the product description, and adapted to your skin tones: pink undertones tend to be "cold" (you like to wear silver jewelry), while the peach-yellow undertones will "warm" the skin (wear gold jewelry instead). In Pakistan, the skin's natural undertones tend to be " olive, "between yellow and green. When the proportions of pink and yellow are balanced, we speak of skin with " neutral " tones.

Foundation application techniques

Professionals recommend applying a base (in English "primer" ) before anything else to smooth the skin texture. Skincare previously applied can also affect the hold of the foundation. Do not underestimate the tool you use to apply the product: a cream, liquid, or compact powder can be involved with the finger, as these textures withstand heat with body temperature. Application with a brush, however, remains the most recommended for better distribution. In the case of a particularly dense foundation, a sponge will be the ideal solution.

In general, do not apply the foundation directly to the face: it is preferable to place a certain amount on the back of the hand and to soak your brush, the tips of your fingers, or your sponge. to makeup, to then tap in various places on the face (more particularly on the reddened areas and with imperfections). You can then stretch the product in circular and light movements to distribute the coverage evenly.

Mineral powders can be applied using a dense brush, such as Kabuki or using a makeup sponge. To avoid the "powder mask" side on the face, first place a small amount of foundation in the lid of the jar, then dip your brush in it and tap it on the rim to make it fall—excess powder. You can then apply the product to your face with circular and light movements. If the result seems too powdery to you, you can spray a dash of hydrosol or other makeup setting spray on your face.

Tip: If you want a particularly natural result, first apply a BB Cream or a light foundation on your face, and then only use the corrector (or a more covering foundation) on your reddened areas.

A foundation according to your skin and according to the season:

For dry or mature skin, the application of a nourishing cream followed by a compact foundation, or the use of a BB Cream or CC Cream, are particularly well suited. If you opt for a mineral powder, be sure to apply a rich treatment beforehand on the skin or directly mix a small amount of foundation powder with your day cream. The combination to oily skin prefers these foundations in inorganic powder or under light liquid form. The sensitive skin will also benefit from pure ingredients in mineral foundation funds.
