Anne Buffington  Artist
I never received formal art school training, but was privately tutored by a number of professional artists. My first instructor was my uncle who took me under his wing when I was very young.  I also studied with a number of other artists through out  my formidable years.  My final training was with an artist who had a close association with the Wyeth family.  Through him, I learned what is known as the "Brandywine Tradition of Painting".  A rather controversial technique which was not taught in art schools at that time.
Each artist with whom I studied passed on something valuable and priceless to me and reenforced in me the  desire to take the creative path. During my early years, I concentrated almost exclusively in water color.
Recently I started  working in oils ... a new experience for me.  It hasn't come without it's struggles and internal introspection, but it has also  been very rewarding.
I am fascinated with the concept of taking that which is a thought process and transforming it into a tangible object.
I also enjoy the evolutionary nature of art ... the growing ... developing ... and never really knowing exactly where that path will lead and meeting head on  the challenges that present themselves on a daily basis.
Above all, I love the creativity and the very nature of that which sets all free spirits apart from the rest of the world.
