In The Blood Movie Synopsis
In 2002, Ava, a 14-year-old girl from Bridgeport, Connecticut, wakes up in the middle of the night and witnesses her father, a drug lord, being murdered by two masked robbers, before grabbing a broken rifle and shooting both assailants dead. Twelve years later, after a difficult life and recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, Ava married wealthy Derek Grant in Arlington, the two having met while attending a Narcotics Anonymous meeting.
After the wedding ceremony, the newlyweds flew for their honeymoon to an island in the Caribbean where Derek's family had a summer home. One night, the couple befriended a local young man named Manny who invited them to a nightclub, where Ava got into a violent fight with some of the patrons after meeting a local criminal named Big Biz.
The next morning, Manny takes Ava and Derek on "El Viudador" ("The Widowmaker") a mile-long zip line in the rainforest. Once there, Ava, who is afraid of heights, refuses to go down the rope, but Derek does, and his harness breaks on the descent, sending him crashing to the ground. Ava found him in the jungle, unconscious and severely injured, yet alive.
Unable to board an ambulance with her husband, she eventually reached the hospital, where the staff denied that Derek had been brought in. After realizing that the clinic and other medical facilities on the island did not recognize her husband, Ava went to the police to report him missing. The police took her to a zip line, but the owner denied that it was open on the day Derek fell and denied that he knew anyone involved. Ava begins to search on her own.
Meanwhile, Ava checks out a man at the zip line, threatening him that she will drop him straight into the woods if he doesn't confess to where Derek is, only to be caught by the police. After seeing Ava's latest actions in cell phone footage, Police Chief Garza orders one of his officers to send Ava away from the island via ferry. However, when Ava was escorted to the women's restroom, she broke the officer's skull and grabbed his keys before releasing him. Ava jumps off the ferry and swims back to the island to continue her search for her husband.
Later, outside the cockfighting arena, Ava follows another man responsible for driving the ambulance that previously carried Derek, into the slums of the street. After a scuffle with the man she was chasing, Ava knocked him unconscious and questioned him about Derek's whereabouts at night just to draw attention from her brother. Despite trying her best to question the two about Derek's whereabouts, Ava ends up killing one of them, which then attracts the attention of the police again.
