Artwork Description This is the topside of a large 14.25 inch specimen of a Lambis truncata or Giant Spider Conch that was collected from the coral reefs of northern Zanzibar in East Africa in 1966. This is an unusual specimen as it has eight spines instead of the seven that is common for this species. These mollusks are collected and eaten for food by the locals in Zanzibar.
