Hello, my name is Barbara. I have been painting since the early 80's. I started out painting folk art as that was the trend. As I became better I took Oil lessons. That really peaked my interest in becoming a better painter. I use mostly acrylics. I started out small. Doing birds on slate. Then I enjoyed doing a large assortment of other animals. Deer, Bears, Racoons, Fish, Turkeys. Then I got a custom order to do some ones family pet dog. I use photos to paint by and I painted them on slate. I got more and more request for pet dogs. My friends said " if you can paint them dogs to look so real, why can't you paint people? " So that is when I started asking my friends if I could paint their portrait. I have a collection of portraits that I show, so my customers can see what I have done. I have received many orders just from people seeing my collections. I usually paint them using Acrylics. I now paint an assortment of subjects, but I really like painting from photos. To me it means so much more if it isn't a generic painting. Most of my paintings are a one of a kind. It really is hard to duplicate a painting. The first one always looks the best. I want to thank every one who has and had faith in me to incourage me to continue painting, and I give God all the Glory for giving me my talent!
