Friends, Favorites & Comments
Back To Blogs List
Some artists believe that if they allow others to comment on their artworks and blogs, if they add other artist's artworks to their favorites or even friend other artists, then this can have the adverse effect of driving traffic away from their potential sales.
While the level of your participation in the Got Artwork artist community is entirely up to you, we believe that in today's social media frenzied world, self isolation can discourage more traffic to your artwork pages!
You've already taken the first step of signing up as an artist or gallery in Got Artwork's artist community website. The key word here is community. Unless you have a specific marketing campaign that will drive traffic to your Got Artwork powered website (www.your-name.com domain or your-name.gotartwork.com sub-domain), then you're really not doing yourself any favors by refusing to have any friends or refusing to leave encouraging comments to other artists.
Can it drive traffic away from you? It's entirely possible. But, on the other hand, you can expect others to repay you with their words of encouragement and approval on your artworks.
This doesn't just create more traffic for both you and other artists. If you're kind enough to leave your honest opinion on other artist's artworks, and they're kind enough to pay you back, this can help customers make up their mind. This isn't necessarily a bad thing for you or the artists who left comments on your artworks. Not all artwork has the same style, and some customers already know what type of artwork they're looking for to complement their living room or office.
Think of it this way. An artwork is not an everyday necessity like food and water ( for most mortals anyway :P ). It's a matter of visual beauty that creates inspiration. As such, you can't really force a customer to buy what they're not really sure about purchasing already when you try to limit their options. Remember that they're already inside the GotArtwork.com website and they already have the option of browsing other artworks.
