My interest in art has been with me for as long as I can remember. In grade school, I entered every art contest that I could find, and by the time I entered high school, I knew that my dream was to become an artist. Before graduating from Clayton Valley High School, I submitted the winning logo for the school crest, and received scholarships to the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, and The Academy of Art in San Francisco. Later, after marrying and having children, I put my art on hold for many years, but after my children were grown, I returned to Diablo Valley College, and then back to Academy of Art in San Francisco. After joining Benicia ArtsCo in 1982, I began showing my works with Benicia artists and sculptors, Robert Arneson, Lee Champagne, and many other artists who started at the ArtsCo. From there, I became involved with George McKeever Glass Studios, and worked with stained and sand-blasted glass, for years, at the same time, still painting and exhibiting. In 1984, slides of all my current work, were placed in a permanent collection in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, through the collection of Michael Bell. The next few years, I was invited to exhibit in several shows, including Life Within Life, an Exhibition of Visionary Surrealism at the Collins Gallery, S.F. , and Retrospectacle, San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery, taking 1st and 2nd. ribbons, and also receiving the Graumbacher Award for Best Use of Color. After taking some years off from exhibiting, I began painting again in 1995, for a solo exhibit, Meditation, at the River Road Gallery in Locke, Cal. Soon after that, I decided to join California Watercolor Association, so I could meet and network with other artists. I became their newsletter editor for two years, and was involved with CWA's outreach program, teaching children watercolor techniques. I have tried many different subjects and styles, but I still think of myself mainly as a portrait artist, since I am endlessly fascinated by the face and figure. I am available for commissions of all kinds...adults, children and animals.
