Born in 1962, in Ottawa, Ontario, Janine Dupont has stood out from the rest in subtle but significant ways for as long as she can remember.
Her first art related memory depicts a specific moment while in kindergarten, when a teacher made a remark that her artwork was worlds away from the rest of the class. Her uncanny attention to detail set her apart from her peers– something that would remain present throughout her unique journey.
In early adulthood, Janine found herself involved in a barrage of odd jobs – everything from an airport security officer to a midnight shift waitress. Eventually, Janine settled in the IT field and became a computer programmer analyst, where she acquired enviable success and financial stability, but never achieved the creative fulfillment she craved as an artist.
In 1996, while experiencing an epiphany of sorts, Janine felt an increasing surge of restlessness and self-questioning. Inspired to make some pivotal, life-altering decisions she ultimately decided to take the plunge and pursue a fine arts degree at the University of Ottawa. This proved to be more than a turning point. Janine found it essential to begin a brand new chapter of her life and grant her inner self some long overdue nourishment.
She went in and conquered, achieving the top-of-the-class status in all her workshops, while collecting praise from respected professors and peers. As her art skills and knowledge grew at a very rapid pace, the creative juices flooded the canvass, urging Janine to spend practically every waking moment with a brush in her hand and an unstoppable drive to become one with her painting.
In a matter of months, her collectors’ list flourished, as did her comfort level with a wide variety of styles an and techniques.
Janine has sold hundreds of original paintings to buyers around the world since early 2000. Her artwork is a part of collections in countries such as the United States, Belgium, Guam, Australia, Singapore and Iceland, among others.
