Artwork Description Amerlin Delinois
Amerlin Delinois was born in Les Cayes on May 24, 1958. His father is a farmer and his mother a vendor. At age 18, he moved to Port-au-Prince to be the apprentice of an auto mechanic. During this time he began to paint and also became a truck driver for the Department of Public Works. He maintained both careers until 1991 when he decided to devote all his time to painting.
While Delinois was still working as a mechanic, a client in his garage, who owned an art gallery in Washington D.C., saw some of his paintings. Thus Delinois embraced the opportunity and began to show his works in the US. Since then, his works have been exhibited in various places across the country, including the Organization of American States in Washington.
The artist has seven children and currently lives in Port-au-Prince.
