ON MY THOUGHTS UPON LEAVING
I did not surmise the horses’ heads were toward eternity
And that He who bore my long black shadow on which everyone stepped Also caused my crown to burn when I ran in the fields of El Salvador
Forgetting the eerie melody of night is easy
In the darkness where I walked unaccompanied in a tux; I was a hunter and a prey of a sinful lust
Forgetting it rains midday on a sunny day is easy
This is when a lamb is born, then the rainbow appears In the green meadows, sprung in June
Forgetting I met a man named Cesar Hernandez is easy
He intrigued me with his presence and strength
And I remain true to his only advice,
“Piss on the orange trees every day and they will be fruitful!”
Forgetting the first word ever spoken, mamá, is easy Love that comes with rejection,
Defeat and Nike
And the letting go is easiest
When the window closes above me And you are leaving
