Artwork Description
This painting is done in Honor and Memory of a beautiful piebald gypsy vanner stallion, Kayleen, owned by Bodil Blomberg of Sweden. Please visit http://www.coloured-horses.3w.se/ The Little Big Ranch of Bodil Blomberg and their Gypsy Horses, Swedish Coldblooded, Quarter and Paint Horses. Gypsy Vanner horses are rich in history and a cornerstone of the Gypsy culture. Although there are no absolute records of their origin, it is thought they evolved over 100 years, and are the result of mating Shires and Clydesdales as well as Dales and Fell ponies. It is believed that the Gypsy Vanner gene pool may also include certain Galloway and Fresian trotting ponies that have since become extinct. Gypsy Vanner horses also known as Gypsy Cobs, Gypsy Horses, Irish Cobs and Tinkers, were originally intended to be a colorful labor companion, primarily used for pulling wagons, but have culminated in a breed popular today because of their appearance (colorful, profuse manes, abundant tails and bountiful feathers), temperament (gentle, loving and affectionate) and ability (train easily, willing to please and great for show).
