As the title of the work "Objet Petite" suggests, there is something "unobtainable" about this piece's narrative. This additive/reductive charcoal seascape leaves the viewer lost in an mysterious narrative. Is the mer-creature looking on the ship with heartache, or spite? Is she curious, angry, fearful, or in love? Is there something unobtainable the mer-creature is left longing for? Or is it simply an illusion of the viewer projecting their own unobtainable questions of what she must be thinking?
