Artwork Description This collage, a hand holding a gun point blank at the viewer, is about the gun’s evolution in life, from an object of fascination and security to one of power, fear and destruction in the social psyche of contemporary life.
The gun has become an integral part of our personal and social realities, through its glamorization in the history and evolution of humanity. Daily stories of willful, random, accidental, premeditative and self-defensive shootings of individual in our global village, makes the gun a contemporary icon of good and evil.
Of life and Death, is basically a reminder that in this day and age we are either targets, or victims in the gun’s line of fire, from the bad guys as well as the good guys. For every gun comes with targets and victims. The hand holding the gun with the images in the muzzle, barrel, and the red spots all relate to the self-destructive nature of humanity. Without the hand, the gun is a harmless dead object.
