The painter recreates a scene from the well-known novel of John Fowles, "The French Lieutenant's Woman" from a new, without-inhibitions perspective. The mood the painter is trying to deliver to the public is nostalgia combined with anxiety; our perspective is from behind the girl who is looking over the sea. Considering that the see is getting rough and the sky is cloudy perhaps also the protagonist's inner state is afflicted after getting jilted by her lover.
