Manchester United suffered a crushing defeat at home to Manchester City.
The Red Devils fell to a 0-3 defeat in the 10th round of the 2023/24 English Premier League (EPL) at Old Trafford in Manchester, England, at 0:30 a.m. ET.
United's momentum came to a screeching halt as City ended their recent official three-game winning streak.
United had an unwelcome visitor in their dressing room. Best friends Park Ji-sung and Patrice Evra, who led the revival, came to support.
"Welcome back to the stadium," United said on their official channels, highlighting Park Ji-Sung and Evra's visit.
"It's a great opportunity to beat Man City," Evra said. I don't like to predict scores. I just think Man United will win," she said, cheering on her hometown team.
Despite Evra's support, the Red Devils were unable to capitalize.
United went with a 4-2-3-1 formation. Rasmus Höwelun started up top, with Marcus Rashford, Christian Eriksen, and Bruno Fernandes in the second line. Scott McTominay and Sofiane Amrabat coordinated the attack from the back, while Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, and Diogo Dalot formed the defense. Andre Onana was in goal. 먹튀검증
City also went with a 4-2-3-1 formation. Elling Holland was up front with Jack Grealish, Julian Alvarez, and Phil Foden behind him. Bernardo Silva and Rodri made up the midfield, while Joshko Gvardiol, John Stones, Juventus Dias, and Kyle Walker formed the defense. Ederson was in goal.
The game started with a one-sided attack from City. They pressed hard, harassed United, drew up the line, and kept knocking on the door.
United dropped back and continued to attack in a counterattacking pattern. McTominay had a shot in the second minute, but it was weak.
City continued to attack. In the eighth minute, Foden headed home a pass from Rodri and Walker. Maguire got a hand to it, but United escaped the danger.
City took their chances. Rodriguez drew a foul in the box from United's Huilun. After an ambiguous video review, the referee awarded a penalty. Holland stepped up to the spot and converted for a 1-0 lead.
United fought back. In the 31st minute, Hooper took advantage of a City miscue to find himself one-on-one with the keeper and had a great chance to shoot, but was denied by the defense. McTominay then unleashed a spectacular volley, but was denied by the keeper as the first half ended on a disappointing note.
United took off Amrabat and brought on Mason Mount at the start of the second half in an attempt to turn things around, but City responded with another goal. Four minutes into the second half, Holland completed his hat-trick off a pass from Silva.
City's offense continued. In the 26th minute, Holland had a crucial chance after a pass from Grealish, but he couldn't capitalize and didn't complete his hat trick.
He did, however, add an assist. In the 35th minute, Holland made it a two-goal, one-assist performance when he crossed the ball after a scramble and assisted Foden's goal.
United were unable to muster a single shot on goal and fell apart at home to City.
"United don't know what they're doing, it was a football lesson," criticized City's Micah Richards.
