safetotosite pro3 'Manager Yeom Kyung-yeop Retires' LG Beats Doosan, Reduces Magic Number To '3'...14-hit Blast Including Austin + Oh Ji-hwan Back-to-back Home Runs
Back To Blogs List
On this day, NC lost to Hanwha. On this day, KT won against Kiwoom. Even if NC and KT win their remaining games, LG needs just three more wins to win its first regular season title in 29 years.

LG won the "Jamsil Rivalry" against Doosan 7-4 at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on April 1. Starter Lee Ji-gang threw 101 pitches over six innings, allowing three hits, three walks and three runs (unearned) with three strikeouts to earn his second win of the season.

Austin and Ji-Hwan Oh hit back-to-back home runs. Oh went 3-for-4 with a home run and two doubles, while Austin went 2-for-4 with a home run, one RBI and three runs scored. Moon Sung-ju chipped in with a 3-for-4 performance and two RBIs.

Doosan was held to seven runs on 13 hits by starter Alcantara. For the second straight day, Jamsil Stadium was packed with 23,750 fans. LG manager Yoon Kyung-yeop was ejected in the fifth inning for protesting a video replay.

LG started Hong Chang-ki (right fielder), Park Hae-min (center fielder), Kim Hyun-soo (first baseman), Austin (designated hitter), Oh Ji-hwan (shortstop), Park Dong-won (catcher), Moon Sung-joo (left fielder), Jung Joo-hyun (third baseman), and Shin Min-jae (second baseman) against Dusan. Jeong Ju-hyun replaced veteran Kim Min-sung at third base. The starting pitcher was Lee Ji-kang.

LG has lost its last three games in a row, scoring just one run, three runs, and one run. LG manager Yeom Kyung-yeop said, "It's hard because my bat is not working. It's been bad since last week, but before, it was a game because the starters held up. When the starters don't hold up, it's hard to play. The starters are holding on, but the bats are not breaking through," he said of the recent three-game losing streak.

Doosan's starting lineup for the day was Cho Sun-sung (center fielder), Rojas (right fielder), Yang Seok-hwan (designated hitter), Yang Ji (catcher), Kim Jae-hwan (left fielder), Kang Seung-ho (second baseman), Heo Kyung-min (third baseman), Park Joon-young (shortstop), and Park Ji-hoon (first baseman). The starting pitcher was ace Alcantara.

Catcher Yang Yang-ji, who was replaced at the start of the game due to a lingering left thumb contusion after receiving a bullpen pitch the day before, started as normal. Jung Soo-bin, who suffered a left finger injury against LG on Sept. 29, was left out of the starting lineup for the second straight game.

Manager Lee Seung-yeop said, "Jung Soo-bin took batting practice today. It's better to give him a full rest, but he might play later in the game because we don't know what the game situation will be," Lee said. "He had a good rest yesterday, so he should come out today," Lee said with a smile.

LG struck first in the top of the second inning when Oh Ji-hwan led off with a double. Park Dong-won followed with a double off the third baseman's glove and down the left-field line. Oh scored the go-ahead run. With two outs, Moon Sung-joo flied out to shortstop and Jung Ju-hyun grounded out.

Doosan tied the game in the third inning thanks to Cho's quick feet. One out later, Cho led off with a single to left. Rojas was thrown out at the plate on a big hit that was caught just in front of the right field fence. With two outs and one on, Cho tried to steal second base off Yang Seok-hwan. He completely read the pitcher's throwing motion and took off his timing.

Even with the safe timing, Park Dong-won threw to second base, but the ball hit the glove of second baseman Shin Min-jae and fell into the outfield. Cho, who made a head-first slide to second, quickly got up and ran to third, then rounded third and dug in at home. Center fielder Park Hae-min's throw to first base was slightly off to the side, and Cho was safe.

LG took the lead again in the fourth inning. This time, it was Oh Ji-hwan who opened the scoring. One out later, Oh led off with a double down the left field line against Alcantara. Park Dong-won grounded out to third base, and Moon Sung-joo followed with a double to left-center to make it 2-1.

Center fielder Cho sprinted to make the catch, but the ball hit his glove at the last second and fell backward.

Doosan came back in the fifth inning. A fielding error by LG proved crucial. Leadoff hitter Heo Kyung-min singled to right-center, and Park Jun-young followed with a walk to put runners on first and second.

Park laid down a sacrifice bunt, which was caught by catcher Park Dong-won and thrown to third. The third base umpire ruled it safe. However, LG requested a video review and it was overturned as an out. The runners were put on first and second on a grounder to the first baseman by Cho Su-hyun to end the inning.

Doosan loaded the bases with two outs when Rojas drew a walk. Yang Seok-hwan hit a grounder that second baseman Shin Min-jae couldn't catch at first, and the ball bounced sideways. Shin Min-jae caught it again and threw to first base, and the first base umpire called the out.

Doosan requested a video review, and the call was overturned because Yang was quicker on his feet. The runner who rounded third base and came home was allowed to score, giving Doosan a 3-2 lead.

LG manager Yeom Kyung-yup appealed the second baseman's score and was ejected after talking to the umpires for a while. Umpire Park Ki-tack grabbed the microphone and said, "The second baseman scored because the second baseman also came home. (In the out/save situation), I judged that the runner on second base can also come home. Coach Yeom Kyung-yup was ejected for appealing the video review."

LG came back in the sixth inning. Leadoff hitter Austin led off with a single up the middle, and Oh Ji-hwan's well-placed throw to shortstop was turned into a straight out by the shortstop's jumping catch. Park Dong-won singled up the middle to put runners on first and second, and Moon Sung-joo singled to right to bring home the runner from second to tie the game at 3-3.

LG brought in Kim Min-sung to pinch-hit for Jung Ju-hyun. Kim Min-sung lined a single to left to make it 4-3. The pinch-hitter was successful. With runners on first and second, Shin Min-jae reached on a wild pitch to load the bases.

With two outs, Hong Chang-ki hit a grounder to center field, and Moon Sung-joo tried to tag up to third base. The throw home from center fielder Cho Su-hyun bounced off the infield and rolled to safety. The score was 5-3. 안전토토사이트

LG broke through in the seventh inning. One out later, Austin pulled a two-pitch slider from Alcantara over the left-center field fence for a solo home run (his 22nd of the season).

Austin then struck Alcantara's fastball (148 mph) like a thunderbolt, sending it high over the right field fence for a three-run homer. The eighth home run of the season. The back-to-back homers gave LG a 7-3 lead. Alcantara was pulled after 6⅓ innings of 13 hits, two home runs and seven runs. Lee Young-ha came on in relief.

In the seventh inning, Yoo Young-chan came on as the second pitcher after Lee Ji-gang and pitched a scoreless inning. He walked the leadoff batter, Lee Yoo-chan, but struck out Park Ji-hoon. He walked Cho Soo-hyun to put runners on first and second, but got Rojas to fly out to right field and Yang Seok-hwan to fly out to left field to end the threat.

In the eighth inning, Kim Jin-sung took the mound for LG. He was hit by a leadoff single to left field. On the first pitch, he hit a fastball in the middle of the plate (143 kilometers) for a home run. It made it a one-run game, 7-4. In the ninth inning, Baek Seung-hyun came on and shut down the Doosan bats to secure the win.

Coach Yeom Kyung-yeop said after the game, "The unfavorable call in the fifth inning gave away the momentum, but our players showed their determination to win in the sixth inning and were able to take control of the game. When we needed extra runs, Austin and Oh Ji-hwan's back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning made it easy for us to take the game." "I would like to praise our players for their focus in unfavorable situations. (Lee) Ji-gang-i did his job well as a starter and set the stage for the victory, and then Yoo Young-chan, Kim Jin-sung, and Baek Seung-hyun gave us a good finish."

"Thanks to the fans who filled Jamsil Baseball Stadium for the Chuseok holiday and gave us their enthusiastic support, we were able to win the game to end our losing streak. Thank you very much."
