safetotosite pro3 'Winning Coach' Goes To Lotte---Kim Tae-hyung To Make 'autumn Of Resignation' In 3 Years
Back To Blogs List
Former Doosan coach Kim Tae-hyung (56), who led the 'Doosan dynasty', will take the helm of Lotte.

Lotte announced on Tuesday that it has appointed Kim Tae-hyung as its new CEO. He signed a three-year contract for a total of 2.4 billion won, including a 600 million won signing bonus and annual salary.

Lotte finished the season with Lee Jong-woon as acting head coach after Larry Sutton resigned in August. The team's surge to the top of the standings in the first half of the season completely subsided in the second half, forcing another managerial change and eventually finishing the season in seventh place with 68 wins and 76 losses (0.472 winning percentage).

With the season over, all eyes have been on Lotte's new manager. Kim Tae-hyung, who had been working as a broadcast commentator after stepping down as manager of Doosan at the end of last season, was the top candidate. He is the most recent and most colorful of the former managers who are currently without a team.

Kim made his managerial debut with Doosan in 2015, leading the club to the Korean Series title in his first year and then to seven consecutive Korean Series titles, the longest in KBO history, through 2021. Until last year, he had been with Doosan for eight years, signing a three-year, 3.8 billion won contract, the highest ever for a manager. 먹튀검증

In the 13 years since the Jerry Royster era, Lotte has had seven managers leave in a row. Poor performance has always been the main reason, but Lotte has been a team that has had its fair share of problems, not just with the manager, but with the club as well. Kim Tae-hyung emerged as the right man for the job, as the team was in need of a charismatic leader with game management skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to take control of the players and keep the club from meddling too much. Amidst a flurry of rumors, Lotte initially denied the news, saying "not yet," but eventually hired Kim Tae-hyung.

At the time of the rumors, Lotte had already approached Kim Tae-hyung. It wasn't until the 18th of this month that concrete discussions took place. Lotte Giants CEO Lee Kang-hoon met with Kim for the first time in person. This was the first time Lotte officially met with the manager. He signed the contract two days later on the 20th.

"I understand the weight of being the manager of Lotte," said Kim Tae-hyung, who is returning to the field after a year away. I will repay the expectations of the fans who have been waiting for a long time and deliver results," he said.

Kim will hold an inauguration ceremony at Lotte Hotel Busan at 2 p.m. on the 24th, followed by a meeting with the team during their final training session at Sangdong Stadium on the 25th.

Unusually, Lotte announced the appointment of a new head coach while also saying, "We will appoint a new head coach soon." This means that Sung Min-kyu will be fired.

In September 2019, Lotte made an unconventional move by hiring a former Major League Baseball scout, Sung Min-kyu, to run the organization, despite his lack of domestic coaching or front office experience. Despite emphasizing a "process" to turn Lotte around, Sung eventually stepped down after four years, unable to turn Lotte's fall baseball program around. Former manager Heo Moon-ho, who had been appointed by Sung, was fired after a feud, and Larry Sutton also resigned, prompting Lotte to change managers and terminate Sung's contract with one year left on it.
