A video has emerged of a Chinese male soccer fan wearing Son Heung-min's Tottenham Hotspur jersey being threatened by other Chinese home fans in the stands of the 2026 North American World Cup Asia Second Qualifier between the South Korean national soccer team and China. Before being attacked, the man stood up from his seat and waved Son's jersey in the air, which is believed to have led to a scuffle as the crowd booed him.

A video of the incident went viral on social media and online communities. The incident occurred during the 2026 North American Football Confederations Cup Asia Second Qualifying Match between South Korea and China at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center in Shenzhen, China on June 21. The South Korean national team, led by Jürgen Klinsmann, 59, won the match 3-0, with Son Heung-min leading the way. Son finished the game with two goals and an assist.

In the video in question, Mr. A, a man wearing a Tottenham shirt with the number 7 with the word "won" written on it, was surrounded by other spectators and threatened. Mr. A, who was sitting in the stands with a home fan, appears to be arguing with the home fan, and then the home fan, wearing a Chinese national team jersey, forcibly pulls Mr. A out of his seat.

In addition to this video, a photo of another male fan, Mr. B, wearing a Tottenham jersey, appeared to be getting into a fistfight with a Chinese home fan. "The Chinese fan is wearing Son Heung-min's jersey, so it looks like a fight broke out with the home fans," wrote a user who posted the video and photos on Twitter. 토토

"Footage has emerged of Chinese fans targeting and attacking Tottenham supporters following Son Heung-min's (Tottenham) 0-3 loss to South Korea," the Daily Mail reported, adding that "one (Tottenham) fan was beaten on the pitch, but it appeared to be poorly controlled (at the scene), and it got ugly in certain parts." "It is unclear why the clashes broke out, but South Korea's best player, Son Heung-min, captains Tottenham, which may have angered Chinese fans," the outlet added.

However, additional footage has since surfaced that appears to have been taken before the physical altercation took place. In the video, which was posted on an online community, the crowd was relatively calm when Mr. A stood up from his seat and grabbed a Tottenham jersey, unfurling it and waving it in all directions.

The home fans who witnessed this booed and gave him the finger. In response, Mr. A threw his arms in the air and what appeared to be a bucket of water flew towards him, hitting another spectator near him.

Netizens who watched the video reacted by saying, "At first, I thought the Son Heung-min fan was hit one-sidedly, but there was a provocative scene like that," "Even in the Korean K League, if you act like that, it can cause a fight between spectators," "Still, throwing a water bottle was bad," "Of course, there may be people who argue, but it should have ended at the line of stopping or booing the person who was arguing," etc.
