Guitar Pick Holder Types & Basics

Losing guitar picks can be a problem for many guitarists, myself included. And it's always safe to say that we would all like to have a pick on hand wherever we go, especially if we are very active with our music. If you are constantly jamming & doing live shows, there's a better way to stay on top of a guitarists most important tool, the guitar pick. So here's a few different options to consider when choosing a guitar pick holder.

There's basically a handful of guitar pick holder types:

  • The keychain holders which are usually a pouch of some sort and attach to your keychain so you can take them wherever you go.
  • There's also the necklace pick holders which are made like a rubber frame around you picks. These are fashionable although I don't know if they will also fit larger thicker picks.
  • There are also holders that stick onto your guitar that you might of already seen since they're so popular.
  • Next are the rubber wedgie types which as the name states, they wedge in between your strings at the head of the guitar.
  • These
  • Then we have the keychain pick holders I mentioned that are great for takin with you everywhere you, assuming you have a house or car keys you know.
  • Finally there are pick holders that attach to your mic stand but these are almost strictly for those who do vocals or play live shows. Still worth considering.

So that concludes the main list of different types of ways that you can keep track of your guitar picks, organize, and always be prepared to jam out. Some other considerations include using a guitar pick tray or a display case. You can find all sorts of jewelry display cases that can be repurposed  & any tray that you might have can also do wonders for having a place for your picks. These last 2 options are more for the stay at home guitarist though. Someone who likes to just jam out at home or play in the studio since they're not really as portable as the others but can hold a much bigger variation of plectrums & picks, as well as other accessories.

Check out this website for a full run down of everything related to guitar pick holders. I just wanted to do a quick run through since I'm out of time but all the details are below: Pick Holder Types
