PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) -also called Dracula or Vamyr treatment- is a bio-rejuvenating cell technology that stimulates skin cell rejuvenation and production of collagen and elastic fibres through growth factors in our platelets. The scalp can also be treated to revive slowing hair growth.

PRP treatments revitalize the skin and scalp and renew the cells. The result is more youthful, smoother and more elastic skin.

PRP has been used for many years in sports medicine and orthopaedics, and in recent years has begun to be used in aesthetic treatments.

Dr Daniel Sister is one of the world leaders in PRP treatment and has developed and patented the treatment kit that we at faceclinic use.

HOW DOES PRP WORK?

Platelets (thrombocytes) are small blood cells and their main function is to stop bleeding that has occurred in the body's blood vessels by closing up the open wounds that have occurred. Platelets control the clotting of the blood so that a complementary clot is formed to seal the wound. Its growth factors include stem cells, which bind to blood stem cells and stimulate them to grow and divide, and thus multiply, as well as cells that build fine blood vessels. In primary (cellular) haemostasis, proteins from damaged collagen come into contact with the platelets. The activated platelets bind to collagen and secrete granules, leading to the release of adenosine diphosphate and fibrinogen, and the tissue heals.

With PRP, you get a higher concentration and activation of these growth factors.

HOW DOES TREATMENT WORK?

The treatment is carried out by taking a certain amount of blood from the patient, as in a normal blood test. The plasma and platelets are then separated from the blood by centrifugation and placed in sterile tubes with a stabilising factor where they are activated. This plasma with platelets contains various growth factors that enhance the healing process of damaged/aged skin. Finally, the plasma with platelets is injected into the areas to be treated.

The process is outpatient and recovery is quick and smooth.

HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?

30-45 minutes.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY?

Response to treatment varies, for most people 1-3 treatments/year is sufficient.

There should be 8-12 weeks between each treatment.

There is no limit to the number of treatments that can be carried out. The therapist in charge will design a treatment program based on the client's skin condition.

HOW QUICKLY AND WHAT RESULTS CAN BE EXPECTED FROM A PRP TREATMENT?

First, you will see and feel swelling. Over the next few days and weeks, the platelets release growth factor and pre-stem cells that increase collagen production and the skin's texture and tone gradually improves. Full collagen renewal takes up to three months.

CAN ALL SKIN TYPES BE TREATED?

Yes, the PRP treatment can be used on all skin types and colours.

HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT LAST?

Treatment results vary, but in most cases it lasts up to 18 months. By continuously repeating the treatment one can maintain the results.

WHICH AREAS CAN BE TREATED?
  • The skin around and under the eyes
  • cheeks and chin
  • The jaw line
  • Breast and décolletage
  • Hands and arms
  • Scalp
  • All other parts of the body

WHAT SIDE EFFECTS CAN BE EXPECTED?

Minimal swelling and redness for 12-24 hours after treatment. Minor bruising may occur after the needle.

WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE PRP?

Easy
Blood is drawn as in a normal blood test with prp tubes, then centrifuged and re-injected.

Safe
  • No risk of infection.
  • No risk of bulges or clots.
  • No risk of asymmetry.
  • No risk of allergy.

Natural
The patient's own blood plasma is used. No chemical substances.

Cheap
Long lasting results and possibility to treat several areas at the same time.
Compared to other treatments, the price is low for the same results.

Flexible
Can be used in conjunction with mesotherapy or microneedling.
Can be combined with Restylane and wrinkle treatment.
As a stand-alone treatment or faster recovery after laser or plastic surgery.

PRP does not provide an immediate "quick fix" like injection treatments for wrinkles and fillers with Restylane, but should be seen as a long-term investment. However, if quick results are desired, PRP can be perfectly combined with the other injection treatments.
