YAAAAY!!!
You found my work!
Hopefully you'll like looking around at them as much as I've liked doing them. I know they are in no way professional, but they ARE from the heart. With each stroke of the brush, I send good thoughts to the person I'm making it for. Even when it's not designed with a certain person in mind, it IS created with a feeling in mind. When I first started painting again, a few years ago, it was because a class in The Artist's Way taught me that it's okay to try things you enjoy, even if you're not good at them! The first big thing I did was "The Bleeding Woman." It is abstract, but slightly evocative of the story from which it comes. . . the woman who cannot stop bleeding reaches out to touch just the hem of Jesus's garment. That faith makes her well. Whether "well" means "healthy again" or "okay with her life," it doesn't really matter. She was taking things into her own hands (literally!) in either desperation or faith. It was a brave act. As a someone suffering with debilitating psoriatric arthritis, I know what it is to be a "bleeding woman," ostracized by normal people. The painting, acrylic on 2x3 canvas, was done for a friend of a friend - J. She had just finished up a successful round fighting off cancer, and was stepping out in faith again herself. Hopefully the bright colors, the slighly indicated middle-eastern "fabric," her reaching hand, the sky and earth, all bring happiness and hope to J. She keeps it over her mantel and each time she looks at it, I hope peace is emitted. (Sorry I can't make paragraph returns!)
