Victoria Brockett The Weird And Wonderful World Of Artificial Grass
Back To Blogs List
When you think of artificial grass you probably envision the super-plastic material that you would see in the window display of a butcher’s shop or on a tennis court. These fake glasses were barely even able to be deemed as grass, being made in a green color that never really reflected any type of real grass that one might have seen occurring in nature.

Thankfully synthetic grasses have evolved, and with developments in technology, we now have multiple types of artificial grass, many of which are actually fashioned of the varietals of grasses that we would see in people’s front lawns such as Blue Couch or Buffalo grass. They look good all year round and are highly durable, being designed for the most rugged of weather that the elements can throw at it.

Because of this durability, it actually makes this product an excellent material to work within places other than where you would normally expect to see it, some of which are mentioned below. Hopefully, this article might give you some ideas so you can come up with your own grassy goodness creation!

Intuitive uses for artificial grass

Feature walls: This concept is becoming quite popular in a retail setting. You might see the walls of window displays in shops using this method the emphasize their upcoming spring-summer collection. Or even at an airport to freshen up the interior and give the room a warmer and welcoming feeling to arriving passengers. These types of feature walls can be adorned with herbs, ferns, flowering plants, or even a vertical garden, transforming that wall into a mini-green haven. If you are limited with the amount of green space available in your home, then this might be a great option to consider.

Balconies: With more and more people in higher density living, apartments are a great way to stay close to the city and the amenities that you need. Unfortunately, most are without gardens, but many do often come with balconies. So why not transform this space, either in part or completely with artificial grass. If you have pets they will love it (even if it’s just to use as a bathroom), and it gives them a little bit of outside space where they can soak up some sunshine. Given how easily artificial grass can be installed you will probably love it too!

Rooftops: If your building happens to have a rooftop area that you can access safely, it might be worth upgrading to artificial grass covering. Not only will it give your building an envious appeal to anyone who can see the rooftop, but it also has some environmental benefits as well. These include a reduction in heat absorbed through the roof during the hot summer months, and if the building is located in a big city (which quite often these types of buildings are) it will provide some noise dampening.  As well as this you get a nifty private outdoor space ideal for a rooftop bbq, a garden, or simply just stargazing.

Indoor gardens: Apartment living unfortunately doesn’t always come with an outdoor space, not even a balcony. But this doesn’t mean you can’t have any green goodness in your house. By creating your own mini indoor garden by laying artificial grass as the base, you will be able to get the feeling like your outdoors is now indoors! Placing all your pot plants atop the grass base will give the appearance that these plants actually belong here, not to mention the added benefit that any accidental water spillage will land safely on the grass below.
Hopefully, this has given you some ideas on where artificial grass can be used. It has truly become such a beneficial material to work with and it looks great. In addition to this, it’s safe for children and pets, and is extremely durable, being resistant to mold, and UV fade.
