Why Do We Watch Wrestling?
Back To Blogs List
That is the million dollar question that many people ask the people we read on this website and who have never been asked LIES.
To answer this question, I have thought of the following reasons:
First reason: Entertainment
Yes, entertainment; that word that WWE has at the end of its name. Because let's be honest, who of those reading this article gets bored watching wrestling?
Whatever company it is (WWE, TNA, ROH, NJPW, AAA etc.) if it bored us while we were watching it, would we continue watching it? Or would we change the channel or download the programs? The answer to that is YES, we would change the channel and no longer watch it.
Second reason: Show
Wrestling Live is a show. There are some who go to the movies, others to the theater to see a play, a musical or any other offer and "what do I mean by this?" You will be asking more than one.
Well, that thing about wrestling being a lie, that if they don't hit each other and other things... Well, okay! Do you, when you go to the movies, do you value if it is true or false? I do not think so.
When we go to the movies, we value the performance of the actors, the plot, the characters, etc. Well, in the case of wrestling, the vast majority of people only value that it is a lie and... IT IS A BIG MISTAKE!
Please, let's teach people that when they watch wrestling and especially the little ones, to value the work of the fighters, their characters, stories, etc. and only if it is true or false is stopped being evaluated because gentlemen, like the one who is going to see a show behind the curtain, there are many hours of work and effort of those fighters and people who are not seen to be able to go out and perform a show just to entertain us.
Third reason: Identification
When we watch wrestling we always identify ourselves with some character or wrestler and we buy their shirts, download their songs or dress up as them.
In my case, I feel identified with Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio and AJ Styles among others and I, for example, have dressed up as Sting with his raven gymnick and how I, other people have dressed up as Rey Mysterio or Sin Cara al buy the masks, others will have grown a beard like Jeff Hardy or others will have bought the shirts of their favorite fighters.
Fourth reason: The stories
And with the fourth reason, I emphasize the first (entertainment). Wrestling is like any other series, where its plot is revealed by chapters and there are also good guys or bad guys (face or heel).
Well, as in any series, in wrestling they also have to offer us good stories that make us keep an eye on each program or PPV to see how the stories progress and develop (storyline) and if the story is not good, we don't entertains and does not make us follow the programs.
How does this point look like the first one, right? I guess they have something to do with it...
Fifth reason: Wrestlers
And many of you will ask: Why is a wrestler the last reason to watch wrestling?
Very simple: Because the first time we see wrestling, we don't know any wrestler and, what is it that makes us continue watching wrestling and like that wrestler?
Let's go back to the beginning: He entertains us, we like the show he gives us in the ring, his skill with the microphone and the history in which he is involved.
Few fighters make a rating and PPV sales rise, so therefore, those other people who watch wrestling and see the average audience that the different programs are having, means that people watch wrestling because it entertains us and we like it .
And to finish, I want to thank a group of people with whom I have been training with them all this summer and with whom I have learned and lived magnificent experiences by their side.
Those people have taught me to see wrestling in a different way and to value it in a totally different way and to all those who tell you and ask you why you watch wrestling, you already know some reasons to be able to answer them and to those who say that this is false, I I invite you to do just one wrestling class, since not everyone can stand it, and ask your neck the next day.
