Near to lake Stymphalia, where Hercules did his 6th labour (The Stymphalia birds), around 1225, a group of Cistercian monks built a monastery, the Cistercian Abbey of Zaraka. It is one of the most interesting specimens of Latin monastic architecture in Greece. Now the abbey survives as a romantic ruin. The image of the walls, captured by Dimitrios Paterakis and processed in Black and white in order to highlight the texture of the ruins and increase the contrast with the cloudy sky
