The movie opens in a hospice centre, which should have been a dark and gloomy environment, but instead it's shockingly upbeat and joyful. Sam, a patient who is near death, grudgingly recite her humorous, profanity-filled poetry. Sam's cheeky and sardonic humour immediately endeared me to Nyong'o, who emanates charisma with ease. Her nurse, with whom she goes on a field trip to a Marionette theatre, and she get along well. They don't know that this will be their last chance to live a regular life free from the terror of animals possessing ultrasonic hearing.
