My name is Monica Allen. I live in the small town of Jackson, Ky., nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. I am 37 years old and the mother of 2. Two years ago, I became paralyzed-now a quadriplegic, with only the usage of my left hand. I always loved to paint, but I am now challenged by using only my left hand, as I was always right-handed. I now paint for enjoyment, of course, but it has become a source of income for me, as the cost of handicapped modifications is overwhelming, and I need more physical therapy.I paint mostly landscapes and requests from customers who want pictures of their property, homes, and other landmarks that hold some sentimental value to them.
