Bev Mooney
Artist
Bev Mooney is a prolific artist and photographer currently living in the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. Art and photography are Bev's passions. Her paintings are mostly acrylics on canvas and her work consists of bright, bold colors, with heavily-layered impasto effects.
While she comes from a family of very talented artists, Bev is self-taught and has not received any formal training. She first started experimenting with photography in 2004 while recovering from multiple surgeries and chemotherapy for breast cancer and painting followed soon after.
Her diversity in subject matter is inspired by the colorful life she observed and enjoyed living in Miami Beach and South Florida for 25 years and now the Smoky Mountains. Her paintings and photography are characterized by vibrant and contrasting colors and rich texture and composition with impasto effects. She enjoys creating abstract works in acrylics and photography as well as digital painting and many times she will subtly imbed hearts and a word or message in her paintings.
Bev is the recipient of the Special Recognition Award for her impasto acrylic painting on canvas titled “Floral Symphony on Blue”.
