It is like this rushing water flowing from my hand. Even when I prepare a canvas for paint the energy within releases out of me and strait on to the canvas. There are powers at work that I do not understand that are creating these pieces. I don't really have to think about them that much, I dream the painting during the creation period. I just put a brush in my hand and do the work.

The experiences, feelings, spirituality, and values that I have in my life come to life in the artwork. It is my point of reference for this wild, creative energy. I'm not sure at what point the Heart Series revealed itself as a staple in my art. I cannot express the energy that goes into these works. Often I will write on the canvas my feelings, prayers and wishes. Then I'll paint over the words to be lost behind the oil paint.

I have paintings that I have worked on for many years, some over ten years. The story is still being told is as close to an explanation for that. Terminal Intensity is that ongoing story. I've painted backgrounds for many of my abstract pieces that the actual subject appears to me and I'll get the piece out, dust it off and finish it.

I look at my art as an extended form of communication. Every piece of art has it's own story behind it. There are clear messages of love, fears, friends and family that individual viewers of the work are able incorporate the message into their own lives. I enjoy hearing the interpretations of others people's ideas of paintings I've created.

My artwork helps me heal, imagine, and continues to answer the questions I have in my life. I have way too much education.

I have a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago 1997. Art comes within. Be happy.

  • Terminal Intensity 9 Artworks
It is inspired by potency, power, strength, fervency, insistence, passion and spirituality. The symbolism that few have insight to has slowly revealed themselves to me over the years I have been working on this series. This surrealistic painting series has always leaned towards the birth of a world, the lives of humans and and placing the elements inside the world that we use from natural elements.

  • Heart Paintings 5 Artworks
The physical heart and the emotional heart are affected when we reflect on relationships, loves lost and love wanted. These photos of my heart paintings all come from my passionate heart and the experiences I've had, dreamed about and still wish for. The pursuit of love is exciting and has been a part of the energy released during the creation of these heart paintings. The lasting relationships that I've had are explored in this body of work as are flirtatious memories. There is an assortment of heart art that is about the pursuit of a new love. Two hearts together juxtaposition like as if in a dream in many of the heart paintings. Some of the heart paintings are about the turmoil that we all experience with our loved ones. There are a few heart paintings that show a single heart waiting.

  • Surrealism 3 Artworks
Finding the surreal in all of us is not difficult. It is all around us. It is in the works that we have created for ourselves. It is in our everyday lives. Naturally, this is how I communicate on the canvas. I take the organizational structures of my environment, thoughts and influences and organize them on to a canvas. My choice of color creates the mood for each subject in the piece. Tucson, Arizona is very inspiring to me and many of the recent works completed are of this nature. Surreal oil painting is challenging to create. I typically have no idea what the end result will be when I start a surrealistic piece. Over time they reveal themselves to me. I spend a lot of time staring at these during the development. Experiments with shapes, elements and paint application along with the visions I get during the process are often exhausting. I bring in elements that I have used in other surreal paintings or experiments, and see how they work together. At that point, surrealism turns into a language and the oil painting will start to speak to me. I have enjoyed painting each of these surreal pieces but it is a very painstaking process. These take months to create, in a few cases, years. Rarely do I know what they mean or where they come from however I am strongly moved to paint these and always have a few going at the same time. Some how that helps the process of breaching different dimensions in order to paint these.
