Artist
I have a view; I have a voice and better yet, I have a paint brush. I paint so that I may bring beauty, awareness and hope.
I attended St Cloud State College, St Cloud MN and then on to Washington University, St Louis MO. Fine Arts program. Artists from the past such as Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, and Gustav Klimt are some of my heroes. For these masters my admiration continues to grow and I examine and absorb their each and every stroke of color. You will find the influence of mentors and masters softly woven through my paintings. Since moving to Florida in 2016, my paintings continue to evolve in new and unexpected ways. I have experienced loss through the death of my mother and sister and life's creative force through the birth of grandchildren. I have had time to reflect on my own mortality as well as the Earth’s. Directly behind my studio is a preserve where there are creepy insects, snakes, lush green vines, beautiful strange birds, and families of alligators. There are no fishing or swimming signs to warn visitors, that danger is eminent. Although beauty surrounds me I often find myself caught up in current events, politics, and environmental issues. Our global world with its ever changing technology and its threat to our environment, alongside its amazing contribution to our increasing wealth and health creates a unique duality. Truly technology at its best can be overwhelming and can separate us from nature and ultimately ourselves. This duality compels me to be aware and conscious of the world in which we live.
