Artwork Description About mythological Myrrha:
Paphos often boasted that her daughter Myrrha is more beautiful than Aphrodite herself. The goddess decided to get rid of her rival. She made the princess light up with incestuous love for her father. Fleeing from the wrath of her father, Myrrha begged Aphrodite for help. She turned the princess into a myrtle bush. Local residents often gathered brown gum from it. It is said it is Myrrha crying over her fate. Aphrodite has always been attracted to that area by something. When in search of new adventures, she decided to rest under that beautiful shrub, its bark burst. Myrtle bush gave Aphrodite a baby- lovely boy, who was named Adonis. Great love for Adonis caused Aphrodite a lot of suffering over time. It was the revenge of Myrrha.
