The North Head Lighthouse in Washington is located where the Columbia River flows into the Ocean. The weather on the northern part of the Pacific coast is often cool and rainy. To reflect the atmosphere of this area into the painting I used mostly blue and gray colors with white highlights. I did added a hint of warm gold to the painting to soften the otherwise cool and stormy seascape. perfect for the scene supporting the North Head lighthouse.
